Analysis of NME Double Page Spread
At the bottom of the double page spread there is a time line in the colour blue which consists of the house-style. The time line provides a sort biography of Lana Del Rey's life and the title says 'The Rise of Del Rey' which attracts to reader to read the time line. Also they have used Serif font and Son Serif font which contrasts so this also draws attention to the readers. They have also used photographs on the time line to show how the artist has changed, and they have also tilted some of the images to make it look more modern and show that the artist is young.
The image that has been used is seductive and appeals more for the male audience, therefore this relates to feminist theory of the male gaze. She is wearing red lipstick which is symbolized as being being sexually aggressive. Also the pose she is doing with the position of the bottle has sexual connotations and she is looking directly out to the audience, therefore attracting readers. Also there is an american flag in the background which suggests she's just 'the girl next door', and also shows that she is from America. Also to relate to America there are converse hanging from the back of the chair which she is sitting on.
In the main headline, they have used a quote from Lana herself, this is effective as it will make the reader want to know why she is 'so nervous'. The magazine have also used a consistent house style of the colour blue, they have used this colour so that it contrasts with the American flag, and they have also used blue to highlight Lana's name.
The circle in the center also highlights a quote from the interview, which is designed to interest the reader as Lana states that shes 'been fighting for a long time' therefore this makes the reader want to find out her struggles to become a pop-star. They have also highlighted the circle in blue again so that the reader knows that it is about the artist herself.

Rule of Thirds and Depth of Field
Rule of Thirds
The basic principle behind the rule of thirds is to imagine breaking an image down into thirds (both horizontally and vertically) so that you have 9 parts to the photograph.
The basic principle behind the rule of thirds is to imagine breaking an image down into thirds (both horizontally and vertically) so that you have 9 parts to the photograph.
The theory is that if you place points of interest in the intersections or along the lines that your photo becomes more balanced and will enable a viewer of the image to interact with it more naturally. Studies have shown that when viewing images that people’s eyes usually go to one of the intersection points most naturally rather than the center of the shot – using the rule of thirds works with this natural way of viewing an image rather than working against it.
Depth of Field
Depth of field refers to the range of distance that appears acceptably sharp. It varies depending on camera type, aperture and focusing distance, although print size and viewing distance can also influence our perception of depth of field. This tutorial is designed to give a better intuitive and technical understanding for photography, and provides a depth of field calculator to show how it varies with your camera settings.
Feminist Theory
As a perspective for looking at media texts, feminists would see most media output as being the product of a patriarchal or male dominated order, aimed at objectifying women as sex objects and only placed there for there appearance. Feminism was the response to society's assumptions that women should be subservient to men; until the emergence of feminism women were treated almost as objects, passive agents in a male world.
Here is the front cover of a Q magazine where Lady Gaga is in a seductive pose as she is topless therefore this leads to the assumption that males will purchase this magazine because of the front cover.
